It’s a new year and it’s a great time to shake things up around the home. How about redoing your kitchen? It’s one of the most used rooms in the house, after all.
To help you out, here are some of the current trends in kitchen design.
Kitchen Design Colours
Many people are going for a light look in the kitchen these days. White cupboards, cabinets and drawers are all the rage. But, if you want to go with a more classic look, grey works really nicely (especially for the walls). It’s all about light, calm colours at the moment.
Kitchen Design Wood
Wood is a classic and it never really goes out of style. Wooden cabinets and drawers always work. You can go with the natural colour of the wood or you can upgrade your colours with a simple white or grey paint. Lighter woods are becoming more popular, but it all depends on the particular style you’ve chosen.
Keep Your Kitchen Design Simple
A minimalist approach to the kitchen area is quite popular. The fussy overly-decorated look is out and it’s all about functionality. Keep appliances simple, sleek and elegant. White, grey or silver are great colours if you’re looking to replace your current appliances. But one or two bold colours could work well depending on the overall design.
Warm Metals for Your Kitchen
When it comes to your fixtures, warm metals (like brass or copper) are really popular right now. They go well with white or grey colours and wood in the rest of the kitchen. The trick is not to overdo the look. For example, limit the look to copper taps and copper cabinet handles.
Of course, at the end of the day it all comes down to personal taste. It’s also important that you don’t design the kitchen to look too different from the rest of your home. You don’t want the kitchen to have a completely different aesthetic, especially if it’s open plan and clearly visible from outside the room.
